Rebates

Private health insurance rebates vary depending on the fund and your level of cover.  Please contact your health fund for information on rebates for occupational therapy under their scheme.

Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plans.   5 rebated sessions per year are available to see an occupational therapist, or other allied health professional for complex  health problems (chronic pain is a complex health problem). Rebates as of 2013 per session are $52.50.  Please discuss your eligibility for an EPC with your GP.

Medicare Mental Health Plans -  Up to 10 sessions per year are rebatable for individuals with a mental health issue such as depression or anxiety.  If you suffer from a mental health problem related to living with chronic pain that your GP or a psychiatrist has diagnosed, you may be eligible for this service.  For occupational therapy on a MHP rebates as of 2013 are $74.80 or $96.35 for a home visit.  Please discuss your eligibility for a MHP with your GP or psychiatrist.

Veteran’s affairs consults -  Regrettably due to fixed rebate arrangements with Veteran’s affairs if you choose to see Jane under VA, appointments will be a maximum of 45 minutes.  You will however have to pay no gap fee under this scheme.

Group Programme rebates -  You may be eligible for group treatment rebates under your private health cover,  or through Medicare if you are on a Mental health plan.  This can apply to attendance of Pain management groups and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.   Rebates vary but are generally between $15 – $19 per session attended.
